In Loving Memory of Linda A. Carlson

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Linda A. Carlson, a woman of compassion, love, and remarkable spirit. Linda was born on June 14, 1953, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to Deloris (Rentmeester) and Ralph Vanden Bush. She passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, at the age of 72.

Linda knew the meaning of hard work. Alongside her husband, they shared love for the outdoors which led them to co-own Ross’s Sport Shop, a family business that has remained a proud and active part of the Phillips community from 1992 to present. In addition to her entrepreneurial spirit, Linda worked for many years at Phillips Plastics, putting her dedication and work ethic into everything she did.

As a mother, Linda spent many cherished hours on the lakeshore, teaching her boys to fish and encouraging their love of the outdoors. She supported her sons and later her grandsons through Boy Scouts, helping shape them into loyal, prepared, and honorable young men.

Throughout her life, Linda touched countless lives with her humor, kindness, and unwavering generosity. She carried a deep passion for serving others—supporting Wounded Warriors through bear tag donations and playing a meaningful role in organizing the Annual Veterans Fishing Camp in Phillips. Giving back to her community was not simply something she did; it was a part of who she was. Linda was a true icon of the community. She was often found sitting in front of Ross’s Sport Shop, happily chatting with people passing by or waving to cars as they drove by. Her warm presence and genuine love for others made her a beloved part of daily life for so many.

Linda’s selflessness, warmth, and generous spirit leave a legacy that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She was passionate, warm, and kind—and she will be deeply missed.

She was immensely proud to be the mother of her three sons: John (Dawn) Carlson, Robert (Rebecca) Carlson, and Patrick (Tara) Carlson, and her special niece, Lisa (Todd) Walhof.

She is survived by her beloved grandchildren: Chayton, Conner, Don, Angeljean, Lakonia, Jaidyn, Drake, and Will. Which she will forever be known as DJ Gma and Gram Gram.

Linda is further survived by her siblings: Darrell VandenBush, Ron (Jackie) VandenBush, Mary (Terry) Zellner, David (Lynn) VandenBush, and Jodi (Rob) Stowe, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Carlson, whom she married October 27th, 1973; her parents, Deloris and Ralph VandenBush; her brothers Mark, Kelly, and Douglas VandenBush; and her sister Theresa Hegnet
