Friday, July 18

Join award-winning author Geoff Herbach for an unforgettable weekend writing retreat at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin Friday, July 18, at 2:30p through Sunday, July 20, at 3:00p. Unlock the power of pacing and vivid detail to elevate your fiction or memoir, all while drawing creative inspiration from Wright’s iconic architecture. The program is for adults, 18+. The cost is $1,800 per person, and includes breakfasts and lunches, workshop instruction, materials, guided tour, guestroom for two nights on the estate, and welcome reception in the main house. Break bread with community members at a free community meal each Friday at 5:30p at the Other Door in Viroqua, Vernon County’s Drop In Center.

Saturday, July 19

The Little Lamb’s Closet, held at Park Street Christian Church, sponsored by the Richland County Right to Life, is open the third Saturday of the month starting at 9:30a. Please use the Park Street entrance.

Free milk and cheese is available the third Saturday of each month from 9:30a until gone at Park Street Christian Church. Use the Seminary Street entrance.

Join Kitchen Gardener, Abbie Lehman, in the Kitchen Garden at Taliesin to learn how to harness the power of companion planting and create a happier and healthier garden Saturday, July 19, from 9:30a to 12:30p. Learn how companion planting and good planning can help naturally repel pests, attract beneficial natural enemies, and help prevent disease. Cost to attend for those eight an up is $45. Critters & Coffee at the Library will be held in the Brewer Public Library parking lot on Saturday, July 19, at 10:00a. Local 4-H members will bring their animals, learn more about Ocooch Mountain Humane Society, and enjoy Kelly’s Coffee Mobile station’s cold and hot brews. Cold brew is $1.00, hot brew is free and lemonade made fresh by the library staff is also complimentary.

Sunday, July 20

The Avoca United Methodist Church will sponsor a Cowboy Church with Monty Berger at the Avoca Village Hall on Sunday, July 20, beginning at 10:30a. Monty’s time of music will be followed by a potluck lunch, with tableware and beverages provided by the church. All are welcome.
