Vang and Baur charged in death of Elijah Vue

TWO RIVERS, WI – (WGBW  & WISS) – On February 20th, 3-year-old Elijah Vue was reported missing. A hunter found his remains on private property in September. This week, Manitowoc District Attorney’s office filed charges against the toddler’s mother and boyfriend in connection with his death.

Jacalyn LaBre, Manitowoc County District Attorney announced the charges in a press conference Thursday.

“Jesse Vang is being charged with physical abuse of a child, repeated acts, causing death, hiding a corpse, and obstruction of an officer. Katrina Baur (Elijah’s mother) is being charged with chronic neglect of a child causing death, child neglect, and obstructing an officer,” said LaBre.

LaBre, reminded attendees that Vang and Baur are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. 

“This is an incredibly tragic situation that has shaken our community,” said LaBre.

A bail hearing and initial appearance for both Vang and Baur are expected to be held on Friday.
