Prep Sports Return, Packers Make The Playoffs, College Football Title Picture Takes Shape

High School Sports return to action.

After a brief pause, High School sports are about to get back to action for the second half of the season.

During a fast hiatus, Wisconsin Rapids moved to 9-2 on the season with a 46-42 win over Lakeland Union, while Assumption dropped its last two games to Rhinelander and Bonduel with scores of 50-22 and 52-28.

In Boys play, Wisconsin Rapids dropped games to Sparta and Manitowoc Lincoln 75-61 and 62-51, while Assumption knocked off Rosholt in a game played in Oshkosh, 68-31.

Packers secure playoff spot, lose to Ravens.


The Green Bay Packers will be in the playoffs despite the recent struggles to end the regular season.

The Packers are in the midst of its longest losing-streak of the season as they have dropped three contests in a row, the most recent being a 41-24 setback to Baltimore.

Next, Green Bay will take on Minnesota in the regular season finale for both squads with the Vikings being done for the season at the completion of the game, while the Packers await their playoff destination where they will play at either Chicago or Philadelphia depending on the final playoff seedings.

Green Bay beat Minnesota 23-6 on November 23 at Lambeau Field.

College Bowl season in full swing.

The final four of the College Football Playoffs are set at top-seed Indiana will take on No. 5 seeded Oregon in a rematch from earlier in the season in the Peach Bowl, while tenth-seed Miami will face No. 6 seed, Ole Miss in the Fiesta Bowl over January 8 and 9.

The title game will be played Jan. 19 in Miami.
