Riverkings swept by Blades
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WFHR / WIRI) – For the first time this season, the Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings were swept in a weekend series over December 6 and 7 as Steele County got a pair of wins at 5-3 and 2-1 in OT.
Rapids will next play over Dec. 13-15 at the Chicago Showcase where they will play the Metro Jets, Fort Wayne Spacemen, Battle Creek Kernels, and Cincinnati Cyclones.

Local Wrestlers start strong
The three local wrestling teams started the season with some team and individual statements over the last week.
Wisconsin Rapids claimed the title at the Spartan Duals, hosted by Luxemburg-Casco.
The Raiders went 4-1 on the day, and ended in a three-way tie based on record with L-C and Bay Port, but on criteria, the Raiders were named the winners.
Nekoosa/Port Edwards competed at the Black River Falls Invite where they placed ninth with 86 points, while the girls placed 4th with 75.
The girls had two champions, Madison Wagner (100), Rylan Oleson (107), while the boys had one in Jacob Bertling (138.)
Assumption/Pacelli competed at the Royall Invite where they placed 12th in the boys Division with 52 points and eighth in the girls with 57.
The Royals had one champion in Gavin Tritz (157.)
All three teams will next compete on Saturday, Dec. 13 at the Husky Invite at Eau Claire North.
In other sports, Wisconsin Rapids Gymnastics was sixth in the Raiders Classic with a score of 123.700, while Rapids Hockey dropped a pair of games to D.C. Everest (5-1) and Reedsburg/WI. Dells 5-3.
Packers to head west
After a last-second victory over Chicago, the Green Bay Packers will be hitting the road to take on the Denver Broncos on Saturday, December 14 at 3:25pm.
Denver holds the all-time series lead at 8-7-1 with the teams meeting since 1971 with the Packers having only one win at “Mile High Stadium” coming in 2007.
