Assumption Royals CC finishes strong. Riverkings sweep again. Winter sports on cusp. Packers look to rebound.
Royals get two podium spots, sixth as a team
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WFHR / WIRI) – The local fall sports year wrapped up for the Wisconsin Rapids area on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the 113th Annual WIAA State Cross Country Championships at the Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids.
The Assumption Royals finished things up with the girls team finishing sixth in Division 2 with a score of 184.
Senior Lucy Dolan finished on the podium for the fourth time of her career, as she placed sixth.
In Division 3, freshman Michael Dolan placed fourth.
Riverkings sweep Freeze
It wasn’t easy, but the Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings earned a sweep over the Fresh Coast Freeze over Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 with scores of 6-3 and 6-4.
The Rapids will resume play over Friday and Saturday, Nov. 7 and Nov. 8, when they host the Minnesota Mullets at 7 p.m. both nights at the South Wood County Recreation Center.
The Riverkings hold a 2-0-0 record over Minnesota, beating them 7-0 and 10-1 to open the season.
Winter sports set to begin
Winter sports practices are on the cusp of beginning as the Wisconsin Rapids area will have another full slate of teams ready to battle for the next several months.
Beginning on Monday, Nov. 10 is hockey, gymnastics, and girls basketball. On Nov. 17, boys basketball, wrestling, and boys swimming.
Packers to play Monday night
After a last-second loss to Carolina a week ago, the Green Bay Packers return to work on Monday, Nov. 10 as they host Philadelphia at 7:15 p.m. on Monday Night Football.
The Packers lead the series 28-20-0 but have lost the last three meetings, with two being in Philadelphia and another in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Green Bay last beat the Eagles in 2020 at Lambeau Field by a score of 30-16.
