Rangers host invite, Rafters end first half. Bucks active in free agency
Rangers rained out during invite. Rafters end the first half of the season strong. The Milwaukee Bucks sign on young talent.
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WFHR, WIRI) – Over June 27-29, the Wisconsin Rapids Rangers American Legion Baseball team hosted an Invite at the Rapids Area Sports Complex.
Rangers take two of three
Rapids started the event strong winning its first two games, but was thumped in its third game before mother nature intervened to rain out the final game.
The Rangers defeated Menomonie 8-4 and Kaukauna 5-1, but were handed a 13-2 loss to Hartland in five innings.
Marshfield won the Invite with a perfect 4-0 record.
The Rangers also played again on Wednesday, July 2, and had a 7-2 loss to Plover, serving as its first loss in Wisconsin Valley Legion League play.
Rafter end first half with wins
Over the final five games of the first half of the season, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters ended things strong winning three of the contests, including the final two over Madison.
Rapids then split the first two games of the second half with a series split with Fond du Lac, losing 3-1 on Tuesday, July 1, and winning 9-5 on the second.
The Rafters next play series with Lakeshore, Wausau, Madison, and Fond du Lac over the next week.
Bucks get younger
On the opening day of the National Basketball Association free-agent period, the Milwaukee Bucks were very active as they added new faces, while seeing familiar ones leave to new locations.
The Bucks signed free agents Myles Turner, formerly of Indiana, and Gary Harris of Orlando to bolster its roster with young talent.
Via trade, the Bucks also received Vasilije Micic in the Charlotte Hornets and retained Gary Trent Jr..
Milwaukee waived Damian Lillard, while saw free agent Brook Lopez sign with the Clippers, and traded Pat Connaughton to Charlotte along with two, second round draft picks in the Micic deal.
