MADISON, Wis (CIVIC MEDIA) – The Trump Administration announced plans to revoke the visas of students from China and Hong Kong, sparking concern from University of Wisconsin-Madison officials.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated the State Department will “aggresively” crackdown on student visas in collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security. The initiative will include increased scrutinization of incoming visa applications.
Nearly half of UW-Madison’s international students come from China – 3,400 students in total. In light of Pres. Trump’s increased focus on visas, the school has directed international students to immigration resources.
