Pitching keeping Raiders perfect in WVC
The Wisconsin Rapids Baseball team has started the Wisconsin Valley Conference slate a perfect 3-0.
Rapids swept the regular season series with Wausau East with wins of 4-1 and 7-1. Rapids then took the opening game from Stevens Point, 6-0.
Pitching has been the name of the game as they have allowed just a combined eight hits in the three games, while pounding out 25 of their own.
Gage Honeyager proved to be dominant against East as he was 6 of 8 at the plate with two runs batted in and scored three runs as he hit a home run, a triple, and four singles.
He also earned a win on the mound where he struck out 12, walked four, and allowed a run and two hits.
Shaw honored for academics and athletics
The accolades for Assumption senior Sarah Shaw continue to roll in as she navigates the home stretch of her high school career.
The WIAA announced the Scholar Athlete Awards, and Shaw was named as one of 16 girls and 16 boys from across the state.
According to the release, Shaw sports a 3.92 GPA as she was named Player of the Year as a junior in her soccer conference and was the Basketball Player of the Year as a junior and senior, as well as being named the Conference MVP along with her partner in Tennis where they advanced to state two times.
NFL Draft to begin Thursday night, schedule release to follow
After a couple of years of excitement building, the Football world will be focused on Green Bay. The NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 24 and runs until Saturday, April 26 and is being held on the property of Lambeau Field and the adjoining area.
The NFL has also announced that it anticipates the release of the 2025-2026 schedule towards the middle of May, highlighting the 12-15 as likely target dates.
