Wauzeka-Steuben won 50-25 over Ithaca in area girls basketball. The Hornets are co-leaders in the Ridge and Valley Conference standings and they improved to 10-1 in the league and 14-3 overall. The Bulldogs fell to 5-5 in the conference and 10-9 on the season.
Ithaca played well in the first half and the game was tied at 18 at intermission. The Hornets regrouped and outscored their opponent 32-7 in the second half to log the win.
Elizabeth Wright hit four three pointers in the second half and wound up with 14 points, Macy Mitchell, Emma Wall, and Kiley Manning all had 8 points. The Hornets were 8 for 13 from the free throw line.
Ithaca was led in scoring by Tristan Peterson, Holly King, and Maggie Kershner all with 6 points, Jacey Maxwell added 5, and Maylee Pluemer scored 2. The team made three 3 pointers with King making 2 of them. The Bulldogs shot 5 for 14 from the line.
Following the 50-25 win, Wauzeka-Stueben will play in La Farge tonight. Ithaca will host De Soto tonight. The girls game will start at 5:45 p with the boys contest to follow for the Bulldogs and Pirates.
