MADISON, Wis. (WMDX) – A Madison alder says she won’t run for reelection in the spring.
Juliana Bennett represents district 2. Over the weekend, she posted on her common council blog that she would not be seeking reelection in April.
“As someone with deep-rooted principles in community, I am holding space for pride for the work that has been completed, responsibility for what is left unfinished, and releasing that responsibility to the faith I have in the next cohort of leaders,” the post read, in part.
Bennett is one of the people who came forward with harassment allegations against alder Charles Myadze, who was arrested on charges of strangulation and battery last week.
She said she’s looking forward to being a regular 25-year-old.
District 2 includes a southern portion of the Isthmus, bordering the shore of Lake Mendota.
