WAUKESHA, Wis. (WAUK) — A plane had a hard landing at Waukesha County Airport on Monday afternoon, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred at 4:37 p.m. when the single-engined piston-powered plane touched down and veered off the runway, coming to rest in a grassy area to the south. Neither the aircraft nor the airfield appeared to sustain significant damage.
The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, came out uninjured and without assistance. Officials confirmed that the plane, a Mooney, is based at Waukesha County Airport.
Lieutenant Nicholas Wenzel of the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office reported that airport operations quickly returned to normal, with no disruptions to scheduled flights or activities.
Local emergency personnel responded to the scene, and the airport is cooperating with both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The NTSB will conduct an investigation to determine the official cause of the incident.
