Matt Lund Brings 15 Years Experience to Organization

[Wisconsin Rapids, WI February 10, 2023]— The John E. Alexander South Wood County YMCA has named Matt Lund as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective March 20, 2023. Selected by the Y’s Board of Directors, following a 6-month search, Lund will succeed Bret Salscheider who stepped down in September. In his new role Lund will be responsible for leading the tremendous growth that the South Wood County YMCA has experienced over the past two years and continuing to drive community partnerships that benefit the area.

His energy and vision for the South Wood County YMCA is exactly what we were looking for in a leader. With Matt’s experience and success with his previous roles and his passion for the YMCA movement, we are convinced that the South Wood County YMCA will have fantastic leadership for years to come.”

“I am thrilled to join the South Wood County YMCA family,” said Matt Lund. “I grew up in the Y, playing basketball as a youth and teen, learning to swim, and taking part in the YMCA summer camps. Now my 4 kids have learned to swim, play sports, build friendships in the Y childcare programs, and help them thrive as individuals. This is a place that changed my family and I for the better and we are excited to be a part of this community and the YMCA.”

Matt Lund comes to the Y with 15 years of experience in the non-profit world, currently serving at the Grants Pass Family YMCA where he has served as the CEO for the past 4 years. While there, Lund has grown the Y from a $1.7 million to a $3 million Y. He also opened a second 6,000sq ft YMCA called the YMCA Wellness Center offering programs focused on a more holistic approach to wellness, a new 7,000sq ft Childcare Center serving more than 107 youth and opened 3 new OST sites working with the local school district. Prior to the Grants Pass Family YMCA, Lund has worked for the National Wellness Institute, the Chicago Metro YMCA, YMCA of Greater Wichita, YMCA of the North Minneapolis, and the Douglas County YMCA. Lund holds a bachelor’s degree from Ashford University and has held certifications as a Financial Wellness Facilitator, Certified Wellness & Health Coach and Worksite Wellness Specialist.
