GREEN BAY, WI – (WISS and WGBW) – When community members showed a lack of enthusiasm for prior consolidation and boundary changes proposed by the Green Bay Area Public School District (GBAPS), officials went back to the drawing board.
GBAPS released a new consolidation plan. The Boundary Adjustment Advisory Committee reviewed the proposal Tuesday night. The public is asked to give their opinions during public meetings on May 7th at 12:15 and 6 p.m. at the Neville Public Museum.
Information and a feedback survey will also be available on the District website, beginning May 7.
Boundary Proposal
The newest boundary proposal for GBAPS makes the following changes:
- Construct a new 700-student west side elementary on the Kennedy site
- Consolidates MacArthur with Keller/Kennedy Elementary School
- Close Elmore Elementary
- Attendance boundary would be split between Chappell Elementary and Lincoln Elementary
- Extend the Beaumont Elementary Boundary east to the Fox River
- The portion of Tank’s attendance boundary south of Mason would be moved to Beaumont to accommodate Elmore students moving to Lincoln. Students in this attendance area would be placed in their original feeder pattern to Lombardi/Southwest.
- If this option were to happen, the Board would be asked to allow Tank families who were already moved to Lincoln in the 2024-25 school year to be able to stay at Lincoln, if they choose.
- Consolidate Doty Elementary and Langlade Elementary
- Committee will be asked to make a recommendation on which school to close
- Modify the Sullivan Elementary/Nicolet Boundary
- A small portion of the Sullivan attendance area would move to Nicolet
- Modify the Danz Elementary/Martin Elementary Boundary
- Martin Elementary boundary would move north to Deckner Avenue
- Modify the Webster Elementary/Langlade Elementary Boundary
- Webster Elementary boundary to move south to Hwy 172
Redistricting and consolidation plans could be an item on the GBAPS board agenda as early as June 10th’s meeting. Boundary changes, if they are approved, would not occur in the 2024-25 school year, but would be implemented later.
The Green Bay Area Public Schools will have to have a November referendum to fund some of the plan.
